Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)
Wenzhou-Kean University’s Doctor of Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) program is designed to help experienced educators acquire the key knowledge and skills needed for independent research capabilities, and encourage them to conduct education research and solve existing education problems in an innovative way. The program is based on an innovative, interdisciplinary, professional-oriented model that integrates coursework and practical experience, culminating in a full-year internship in a school district or community education agency. Further, this program trains the school leaders to be effective consumers of research. This program mainly offers courses such as: Leadership, Personnel Administration & Negotiations, Program Assessment and Evaluation, School, Community Partnerships and Educational Research, Clinical Practicum in School District, and other professional courses. Important features of the program include: Collaboration among leaders from schools, school districts, and other educational and community agencies; Study of current research, theories and practices in education, leadership, policy, curriculum, and instruction; Opportunity to engage in applied (action) research, resulting in a doctoral dissertation; An extensive internship in a school district or other educational setting.
Instruction and Curriculum (M.A.)
Wenzhou-Kean University’s Instruction and Curriculum (M.A.) program aims to prepare English teachers to teach ESL in primary, secondary, university and adult education contexts. The program is committed to improving students’ teaching skills in various environments; to providing students with cutting-edge research in the field of English language education, theories and principles; to guiding students to carry out diverse and multi-level practical teaching activities; and to strengthening students’ capabilities and solidifying their foundation in theoretical and practical areas of English teaching. Through this program, students will gain a better understanding of current relevant methodologies for classroom practice, comprehend the significance of language analysis in teaching, and improve their understanding of adapting to the cultural environment. In order to enable students to carry out targeted learning based on their interests and career goals, this professional program covers different teaching theories and includes in-depth research in language pedagogy. Both theoretical knowledge and practice are emphasized, and students can choose their area of research from both the theoretical and practical perspectives. The program courses include: Culture, Cognition & Communication for English Language Learners, Advanced Theory & Practice of Teaching English Language Learners, Systematic Observation & Field Experience in ESL/EFL Settings, General Linguistics, Language Acquisition and Second Language Learning, Phonology& Structure of American English, Assessment of Language Performance in ESL/EFL Contexts, etc.
Educational Administration (M.A.)
Wenzhou-Kean University’s Educational Administration (M.A.) program (School Business Administrator Option) aims to prepare individuals for the position of School Business Administrator. It offers a comprehensive formation in theory study and field practice. The program courses include: Computer Applications in Educational Administration, School Supervision & Organizational Theory, Public School Administration, Management of Educational Finance, School Business Management & Accounting, School Building Planning, Basic School Law & Policy, Public Budgeting & Financial Management, Field Study in Administration & Supervision, etc.
