Prior to obtaining his PhD from the University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa, he was a teacher, assistant-principal, and principal in Alberta, Canada, over a span of 20 years. Nanjing, China, would become his next professional destination working as an assistant professor at Nanjing Normal University and principal at an international school. As he begins his tenure at Wenzhou-Kean University, his research focus is on understanding the significant features of schools as organizations and how these affect leadership, policy, instruction, and reform.
